I met Lisa and Jim when they reached out to me to help sell their home in Middlesex. I remember them telling me that Lisa's family was from Warren, and they knew me and my reputation from there. They were planning to move into Lisa's small childhood home with their family of five to help care for Lisa's mom.
Years later, when Lisa's mom passed, she and her brother decided to sell the large parcel where their home sat. They were ready to build new memories for their family in a home of their own. Lisa and Jim had built a great group of friends through their kids schools and also their involvement with Round Top Swim Club. They really wanted to buy their new home in Warren… and so the search began!
The Home Search
Lisa and Jim were very easy to please. They were realistic buyers and could see beyond dated features when the home had good bones and the space they needed. In this case, they were willing to put the effort in to update a home if necessary. This is a big deal, because most buyers, I find, aren't willing to remodel or update, because of time constraints or lack of knowledge to do so. This really helped them have more opportunities and possibilities in their home choices and budget.
One home that they made an offer on, they lost in a bidding war to another buyer. They were very disappointed to say the least. I remember telling Jim that if it was meant to be, the home will circle back to us! Guess what? It did...weeks later. :-)
Home Sweet Home
The listing agent called me to say the deal they had, had fallen through due to some inspection issues and they couldn’t come to a meeting of the minds. And so, the ball was back in Lisa and Jim’s court. And the happy ending happened... a beautiful, stately Colonial on a quiet street in Warren was to become their very own family home where Jim (a chef!) could remodel a new chef’s kitchen!
A Note From Jim
Jim was kind enough to take the time to write this wonderful note to us after working with Weiniger Group:
I type this note to pay respect and thank, profusely, Judy Weiniger for the services she provided my family, not once but twice in the past 8 years.
Due to family illness, my wife and I were faced with the daunting need to support a family member and to do so sell our home in Dunellen, quickly at the absolute bottom of the market in 2009.
After attempts with two different organizations, we happened across Judy by referral from someone who had done business with her. Judy came to our home and instead of all the salesmanship and song and dance, she called in an expert, in our town, and put the facts on the table and effectively split her commission just to be sure we were give the best advice. The facts were not what we wanted to hear, but the facts were plain and simple. We followed her advice and sold the home for EXACTLY what she and her expert suggested it would sell for within 45 days—no small task at that time and economy. Not a happy story, in that regard, but her knowledge and circle of experts were correct when 3 other groups were fantastically incorrect.
Fast forward to the more recent past: We contacted Judy again just about a year ago and engaged her in assisting my family with an exceptionally complicated process involving the sale of a property and the bridge to a purchase of a new property. Upon Judy’s advice, which cost her a HUGE opportunity to earn a commission, she recommended the first part of the sale be handled via legal advice means only, cutting her out of the potential of tens of thousands of dollars. Who does this? Judy did.
The complicated nature of this transaction dragged on for 6 months longer than it should have. Every time I called Judy she would spend all the time it required to understand where the process was and to listen to my, not so concise, descriptions of the progress. Consistently, Judy was the voice of reason and objective analyzer of the details.
