New Jersey Transit trains run from Fanwood to Newark, with connections to Penn Station or Lower Manhattan. Five new direct trains to and from Manhattan are running each weekday in the off-peak hours. The direct trains take about 55 minutes, while the trains switching in Newark take about 70 minutes.

New Jersey Transit also provides bus service from Fanwood to the Port Authority via the 113 line.
